1. Pueblo

Pueblo is the site of Steelworks Center of the West Museum, Archives and Steelworks Park. Visitors drive by National Register of Historic Places related to Colorado Fuel & Iron (CF&I)

2. Walsenburg

South on I-25, Walsenburg is site of a mining museum, miner sculpture, historical power plant, and historical society sharing the rich history of coal mining in the region.

3. Ludlow

South of Walsenburg, the tour includes the Ludlow National Historic Landmark.

4. Trinidad

Trinidad hosts a coal mining museum, the Coal Miner Memorial Sculpture, a sculpture of a canary in a birdcage, historic cemetery and synagogue.

5. Trinidad Lake

West on Hwy 12, travelers visit text panels under Trinidad Dam telling the story of the Town of Sopris now under the surface of Trinidad Lake.

6. Cokedale

6. The Tour visits Cokedale Historic District and coke ovens; Segundo, a CF&I coal camp; and Primero, one of the largest coal camps in the area.

7. Florence

Back to Walsenburg on Hwy 12 to I-25, visitors drive to Colorado City and turn on Hwy 165 to Hwy 67 to Coal Creek, Rockvale, Willliamsburg, and the City of Florence and the Florence Historical Museum.

8. Salida

8. Hwy 50 west, the first stop is Coaldale, followed by Salida (places to stop and eat along the way).

9. Poncha Springs

9 At Poncha Springs the Tour goes south on Hwy 17 to the Orient Mine, east of Villa Grove, and back on Hwy 50 to Monarch, site of another CF&I mine.

10. Crested Butte

From Gunnison, Hwy 135 north goes to Crested Butte where CF&I owned the Jokerville mine and coke ovens that produced coke shipped to Pueblo and used in making steel.

11. Redstone

11. Back to Hwy 50, travelers take Hwy 92/133 to Redstone Castle, the Town of Redstone and the coke ovens.

Visitors go back the way they came or go north and catch I-70 to complete the circle.
